1. put milk in a clean bucket
2. push the calf backward to the corner of the pen
3. wash the hands with clean water with disinfectant
4. hold the bucket with the left hand, dip the index finger of the right hand into the milk and slowly guide the calf to suck it.
5. Ensure the calf’s head is slightly raised during the first few minutes
6. Encourage the calf to drink slowly from the bucket
