It is Mikel’s second award of the season, after being named August’s top performer, and his fourth success as Arsenal manager.
The Gunners had a perfect record in the two months preceding the World Cup, defeating Chelsea, Wolves, West Ham United, and Brighton & Hove Albion to cap off 2022 in style.
Mikel won ahead of fellow nominees Jurgen Klopp, Eddie Howe, and Thomas Frank, and was honored in front of one of the new Emirates Stadium artworks.
His success comes after Martin Odegaard was appointed Premier League Player of the Month for the same period, becoming the first time Arsenal have won both awards since March 2015, when Arsene Wenger and Olivier Giroud were the recipients.
