Tragic Suicide of Teacher in Narok County Sheds Light on Relationship Struggles
Bernard Langat, a 33-year-old Junior Secondary School teacher in Trans Mara, Narok County, tragically took his own life by hanging himself outside his lover’s house.
According to reports, Langat had spent the night at his girlfriend Sharon’s rental place near Bomet Central TTI, where she is a student. However, their time together took a devastating turn when Langat discovered love-related messages from two other men on Sharon’s mobile phone.
Feeling betrayed and hurt, Langat confronted Sharon about the messages. Sharon, in her defense, claimed that Langat was not serious about their relationship leading to marriage, which further upset him. She also mentioned that she declined to engage in sexual activity with Langat due to the visit being impromptu and citing biological reasons.
Langat expressed his disappointment and frustration to Sharon, repeatedly stating, “Kabisa umekataa, umekataa kabisa,” which translates to “you have denied me” in Swahili. The emotional turmoil proved to be too much for Langat to bear, leading him to tragically take his own life.
Before his death, Langat posted a message on Facebook, apologizing to his parents, siblings, relatives, and Sharon for his actions. The message serves as a heartbreaking testament to the immense pain and anguish he must have been experiencing.
In the aftermath of this tragic incident, Sharon is reportedly suffering from depression and has expressed the need for counseling to help her cope with the emotional aftermath. She needs to seek professional support to process her feelings and begin the healing process.
