  1. Appointing and dismissing ministers but with the consent of the monarchy.
  2. Recommending to the monarchy the names of candidates for appointment of senior judicial officers e.g. chief justice.
  3. Presiding over cabinet meetings.
  4. Setting inter-departmental disputes.
  5. Overseeing the implementation of cabinet decision.
  6. Leader of the House of Commons.
  7. Leader of the party that nominates him / her.
